2nd Week

This week went fast and fun ! my favorite part about this week was when Ms.Odima made us act out the people involved in the Penn State scandal. I was the reporter and everybody else was different parts like victims, Penn States's Students, Jerry Sandusky , Jerry Sandusky's wife and things like that. I thought it was going to be boring but it turned out to b very fun and a great learning experience. What I learned from that exercise how to better ask questions and listen while writing down notes. This is only the second week and I already learned a plethora of things!!!

This first week started off very slow but very engaging ! On july 12, 2012 we met Mr.woods, a 27 year old Executive director Director of District 1199c healthcare care union. A union by the way is an organized group of workers that come together to make decisions about the conditions of their work. With becoming a member of a union you pay dues to be represented by the best, receive great benefits and stay protected by all work related issues ! Mr.Woods taught me a lot about unions the most important thing that really stood out to me that he constantly said about his place in the union is, “I only represent HEALTHCARE, IM ONLY HEALTHCARE!” this stood out to me because Mr.Wood said that a lot of people join a union without knowing whether it represents their industry. For example, a hair stylist would not join Mr.Woods ‘Healthcare’ union but a doctor or a nurse would. I found that there are unions out there that just are formed to get money and they dont represent you so its YOUR job to “DO THE RESEARCH “ as Mr.woods said, so you can know what benefits you get for the money you pay.
